If WTHR and Dish did indeed renew their contracts at the end of last month I see no reason why the HD signal is not up. I guess it's a control thing once again with Dish. There was never any such promise on E*s part.

It's never a control thing. It's a dollar thing...as in not getting screwed. If WTHR and Dish did indeed renew their contracts at the end of last month I see no reason why the HD signal is not up. I guess it's a control thing once again with Dish.
Phew, I'm glad I'm not getting screwed; only Dish. Thanks for taking the big one for me Charlie. It's never a control thing. It's a dollar thing...as in not getting screwed.
Probably not any time soon, unfortunately. While I have been bitchin' about the lack of HD for NBC out of Indy, I would be happy with just national feeds of ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX and forget about the local stuff. That would save Charlie a bunch of money trying to provide every local in the USA in HD, plus he could offer more shopping, infomercial, and porn channels. When will the Evansville Indiana local channels go HD on Dish?

WTHR GM's Office said:Recently, Dish Network began providing local Indianapolis HD signals to their subscribers. For the last two years we have made numerous attempts to reach an agreement with Dish Network that would include the carriage of our HD signal on their system. Unfortunately, DISH has chosen not to accept that new agreement. WTHR has agreements with every other cable, satellite and telephone company provider for our HD signal. It's unfortunate that DISH customers are shut out and cannot enjoy HD programming from the Indianapolis market leader as do customers of other providers.
Our agreement with Dish Network expires on September 30th of this year. We are confident any renewal we might reach with Dish Network will include carriage of our HD signal.
Again, thanks for taking the time to write me with your question and thanks for watching WTHR.
When will Dispatch realize they are in a losing battle? Dish does not need WBNS or WTHR unless there is a big move away from Dish to Direct if HD is not available soon. I guess if Dish gives up the other local channels will follow with the same tactics when their contracts need to renegotiated. The way I look at it I'd rather pay Dish and get it all over with. I'm already being screwed by Dish so what's a couple more dollars going to do to the pain. We're in the same boat here with WBNS in Columbus.
I'm guessing that Dish turned down the most recent agreement for the same old reason... they refuse to carry ONN, and Dispatch Media Group still won't back down.
