I watched it and was not impressed. Big deal about Apple Glass which is nothing more than translucent overlays. Big deal about Apple intelligence. No new announcements on hardware.

I did see one interesting app for Mac OS which allows you to answer and make phone calls with BT connection to your iphone. My wife will like that if it works with her older iphone Mini 12.

In my opinion Apple has to rely on existing Apple customers upgrading to survive. Maybe move into new foreign markets for new customers.

They never announce new hardware at WWDC. That happens at the September event. :)

But at least now my Apple Products look like Windows Vista. :D
Do you suffer through their beta advance releases?

Mostly I favor Apple products in stuff I just want it to work and that it does. Unlike windows and Android stuff that requires constant tech support.

Upgrading to what?
Existing Apple users upgrading to the latest iphone, Apple watch, not so much the ipad and iMAC. Wife just upgraded to the latest Apple watch from her AW 4. It was time. I upgraded last year from the AW6 to the Ultra 2. It was time for that too.

I thought Apple had something with the Apple Vision Pro to finally give Meta a run for the top spot in HMD for VR but they fell way short and hugely overpriced. I was disappointed as a big fan of the Meta Quest 3. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for it. It just doesn't do much.

It has to be more than incrementing the model number and the system release number, doesn't it?
Do you think the masses just upgrade because of a new version number? It's the new features that matter. It's the fact that maybe a weak worn out battery dictates the upgrade.

When we were on our cruise in April My wife kept complaining her AW just would hold the charge anymore. Charge to 100% overnight would be dead by noon. I said time to upgrade. Now she loves then new features as well. We're on about a 4 - 5 year upgrade pattern. I don't care what the number of the new model is. I only care about features and durability.

I went from an Apple Watch 4 to an Ultra. (Not Ultra 2 as it wasn't out then) And from an iPhone 13 Pro Max to an iPhone 16 Pro Max. And I upgraded for the same reasons, my watch battery was shot and my iPhone would be at 20% at 5 in the afternoon.

I didn't buy for Apple Intelligence. In fact anyone who did for that reason should be given a refund by Apple, as they were advertising this as the main feature of the phone and its still not available like was shown before.

I replaced my XS pro battery when it went bad. Then my MiL needed a "new" phone. I gave it to her. Bought the 15 pro max for myself. Then she did something and I had to buy her a new iPhone anyway. 13

I guess when this battery goes bad, I'll probably bite the bulllet and buy a new iPhone.

Scott- The new Meta Rayban BT linked to my iphone 15 PM is fantastic if AI is your thing. I have some friends and relatives who are just learning English and when she talks to her daughter in Spanish I can activate Translate and in my ears it translates their conversation audibly in my ears in real time. Even facing them the translated English is directional but the voice is one of several celebrities I selected. It also has the what am I looking at? feature that can identify anything. In a second it identifies. It can listen to music and it tells you what song is playing. The audio quality is amazing too. Now I don't know if that is AI in the Meta Glasses or it is using iPhone intelligence but I do know it needs to be connected to the iphone maybe just for access to chatGPT. I'm still learning all it can do.
"Remember" is another feature it has. You can say, Remember where I put my reading glasses and later on you can ask Where did I put my reading glasses and it will tell you, "Your reading glasses are in your top dresser drawer."

Not the masses, but the ones who want to keep ahead of the peasants. I worked with a whole office that had to have the most Pro XL as soon as it became available.

Not as much as it should.

What's perhaps weak here is the difficulty of repairing Apple devices.
I only care about features and durability.
You say that now that Apple has finally made pretty much everything waterproof. ;)

My question is more along the lines of what is really innovative with the last few cycles (that has actually been realized and not just hyped to death)?

Depends on your skill level to do repairs.
I have the tools and knowhow to do many repairs. Usually with the help of YT videos on how to proceed. My repair history has included several ipad screens, batteries in Apple Watches, and iphones.

Yes, the masses, only upgrade when their stuff is worn out or the new has new features they want. Your office people are like many of the Early adopters I see on You Tube who have to have the latest. This is especially true of the Tesla community. But these are not the normal owner.

Personally, my upgrade path is about 4 years as it takes that long for companies like Apple and Tesla to offer a really compelling upgrade.

My Home theater components only get upgraded when the existing breaks and is not worth repair. My speakers are really old but I acquired them in the 70's as professional studio speakers and they still perform like new. They are really big and heavy. JBL

I do appreciate the early adopters as they do reviews I use to determine if what's offered is compelling me to upgrade or wait for another year.

Um, I've been using Connectivity (Continuity?) on my Mac devices for years now. It's nothing new. It works on my iPad as well, using my iPhone's mobile connection to place telephone calls.

Last macOS added the ability to open a desktop window which is your iPhone. Use your mouse/trackpad to control your iPhone and all its Apps. That's pretty neat.

FaceTime works fine on our iPad Pro. Without the iPhone nearby. Not sure having iPhone nearby to make voice call has any value. Maybe I misunderstand.

My cousin works for Luxotica and I was told to hold off buying them as they will be announcing new Meta Glasses sometime in July. Was told that they WILL NOT be RayBands.

So I will wait. :D And then I will buy using her discount. :D :D
