Detroit Tigers

Pitching is rough for the Yankees. Especially the pen and closing. It won't show not though when they are playing Baltimore and Tampa Bay left on their schedule. Their bats will carry them for the remaining games.

Closing? Mariano 1 blown save since early April. Joba Chambelain .050 ERA. I must be missing something.

It held up against Bostion didn't it?

In defense of Jimbo and Paul, I thought this was a thread about Detroit...not a hijacked thread by Tribe and Yankee fans :p

Read the Yankee thread, its just the opposite - BTW I think there was some agreement last week or so that all of these threads had somehow merged into one long conversation.

Sports fans know of no boundaries to support the teams they love - that's the way it should be. Once the game is over you have to respect your opponent. As long as your team plays hard, tries its best, there is always next year.

Tigers certainly had a great run last year, fell a bit short this year, but have a real good team and I would expect them to be right in the thick of it again next time around.

Agreed,
Hopefully the injury bug won't hit the Tigers as bad next year ....

Speaking for Jimbo and myself, we really don't mind, just wish we were still in the hunt, instead of outside - looking in. I hope that the Indians and the Yank's are in the ALCS, otherwise we won't have anything to write about. Don't seem to be any Angel or Red Sox fans in this forum.

I'm thinking the RedSox fans are looking for cover, and the L.A. fans are just way to laid back.

:)

As they used to say in Brooklyn - "Wait till next year!" Not much more to say about the Tig's right now, see as the remaining games are probably meaningless. I'll wait till the end of the season to post my final grades, and speculate about off-season changes. (You can bet Dombrowski won't be sitting on his hands).

Hey Ramy, maybe next season this thread will rate a "sticky"? Second year in a row, that this was the most viewed and posted thread in the sports forum.

I'm curious to see what they do at Shortstop, I hope they decide who they want and go get them right away, I hate waiting till late in the off season and then get stuck with the left overs.

A dim light getting dimmer I'm afraid. Yankees win 12-11 in 10 innings. Magic number for them to lock out Tiggers is 3. Detroit now losing 5-1 in the third to KC.

Don't get me wrong, I know (because I am the same with my team) how hard you are rooting, and I know it ain't easy when things aren't looking so good.

Actually, I'm a hybrid Yankees/Tigers fan. I'm a big collector of signed Tiger team baseballs. The only California team I've ever liked is the Lakers. I've never liked the Dodgers. L.A. baseball fans are wayyyyyyyyy too laid back for my tastes. The games are pretty boring

The only guy I've noticed posting here from California (sidekick), is a Yankee's fan.

Got to give credit to both the Indians and the Yankee's this year. Cleveland is having the same kind of season (minus the late season swoon) that the Tigers had last season. Everything came together, just like you map out in the off season. If you look back through the threads on baseball you'll find my prediction that Cleveland was the team to watch. As for the Yankee's, well they overcame their injuries better than Detroit did. Although looking back at this season, I think injuries weren't the only reason the Tigers failed this season. More about that at the season's end.

Recognizing that you have the problem is the first step towards wellness. Marinelli has this team turned around, and around, and around....
