Detroit Tigers

It's too bad that work and my wife's schedule have been taking up such a huge amount of my time lately or I would have attended a game or two. The last time I saw Detroit play Washington was back in like '71. I remember Joe Coleman pitching, Frank Howard belting an upper-deck homer (not against Coleman), and Norm Cash doing no wrong in my eyes.

Robertson nor Maroth will be enough for Texiera. Cameron Maybin, and another top ranked pitching prospect would be the opening bid. The Tigers continue their torrid hitting streak. I don't recall any Tiger team hitting like this in my lifetime. (And a LONG lifetime it's been). If this continues season long , some MLB records will fall. Still waiting to see how the rotation shakes out later this week.

Getting kind of lonely around here lately Jimbo. Where did everybody go?

Well Paul, I'm back to work, so I'm not around during the day, although I'm on vacation next week.

As for Cameron Maybin, it ain't happenin, so don't worry, he's not going anywhere.

Well, here's hoping that they don't pull the trigger on Maybin that would be stupid.
We do not need Texiera, we are already on pace to break the team record for runs scored, and god only know's what else. Casey is perfect on this team, he isn't expected to hit homers, he is expected to get on base, and play Defense, and he does both very well.

The only thing this team is for the Pen to get fixed, and that is all we need. Once that is done(AND IT WILL BE), then Detroit will be the team to beat in Baseball, PERIOD.

BTW did anyone catch the Rangers owner HIX in that interview he did on camera? What an idiot!!

As I mentioned in the last post, Maybin 's not goin anywhere, I don't care WHO they are offering.

As for Casey, don't get me wrong, I like him very much and I agree that he fits in really well, but I also heard the other day that he more than likely won't be here next year, so ... you may as well get something for him !!!

Riff, come out to the park, the game's are fine. Sounds like you've been working too hard, too long(1971?). Comerica is a beautiful place to watch your favorite team beat up on the opposing pitchers.

Meanwhile - - It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Mr. Rogers is back in ther neighborhood tonite vs. John Smoltz.

GO TIGERS!!!

Paul,

We'll be coming back for a week or so in late July or early August. I plan to catch a game at Comerica Park (hopefully I can get good seats behind 1st base), visit with family, do lots of fun stuff, and spend a couple days in Canada.

Anyway, Rogers is making his debut this evening. At age 42, I sure hope he has a little of last years magic left in that arm of his.

Dilema

Do I watch the Tigers in SD on FSN Detroit with the Tigers announcers ....or watch the game in HD on channel 95, the feed is the Atlanta feed (Sports South) with thier announcers !!!!

HMMMMMMMMmmmmmm......

Rogers looked like he hadn't missed a start. 6 innings, 2 hits. Bullpen also stellar last night, giving up no hits. So long Mike Maroth, Detroit won't forget your courage in 2003, when you refused to come out of the rotation, in the face of a 20+ loss season. You will get a standing O when you return in your Cardinal uniform. I hope Andrew Miller shows the heart you did in his career. You will be missed sir.
Braves were shut out for the 3rd straight game, and their prospects certainly won't improve today against Verlander.

GO TIGERS!!!

Agreed Paul,
I hope Mike Maroth all the best, Cards got a good pitcher, probably a # 3., but a very good serviceable pitcher ....
He may pitch much better in the NL, seeing how drastic the difference there is in leagues.

I always liked Mike, watched him from the start of his time with the Mud Hens (Toledo AAA) He was one of the first to start the turn around in Detroit with the Toledo infusion, he came up around the same time as Brandon Inge from what I remember. He has been thru alot of losing in Detroit before the turn around took place. :up

Wow! The Tigers score 32 runs on 41 hits over a three-game series with Washington and the pitching then allows 1 run on only 7 hits in the first two-games with Atlanta. Awesome! Tonight's game is on ESPNHD for those of us who live out of town.:)

Before we get all giddy about the great pitching the last few series, remember, it's against the Nationals and the Braves who can't score to save the day at the moment.....

Although I do like seeing better pitched games from the Tigers pitching staff, also, hopefully Rodney is starting to come around now.

*-1, on the road in the National League. That's impressive no matter who you played. Rogers, Bonderman, Verlander, Miller, and who cares. This is a rotation that almost gaurantees you of winning just about any series. 2 game lead now, and no looking back, not with this staff and our 21st century version of murderer's row. Even the bullpen is showing signs of life. I like our chances of repeating as AL champs. Starting pitching and our hitting put us on the same step as Boston as far as I'm concerned.

Best team in baseball, hands down. Isn't it nice to see the White Sox Melting down? Durbin was lights out coming out of thepen last night. what a road trip!!!

The National media is touting the Angels as the best all around team, so far...
Although I think that may be because of the Tigers poor bullpen so far....

Mike Maroth is (was ) pitching for the Cards tonight......
And very well at that :)

7.1 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 4 K's , 2 walks.

Game tied 1-1 in the 11th !
Mike is going to find the run support to be lacking in St. Louis, at least this year.

Well if the Starters would be more efficient with the pitches thrown, they could go deeper into the games....
If that starts to happen each of the Starters should be capable to go 7-8 innings and the bullpen would not be taxed so badly.

I am still not sure about Rodney, Jones blew another the other night.
I hope Zumaya comes back, but also hope he doesn't try to do too much also.

As much as I like Jones as a guy and a sportswriter, I hope Dombrowski is looking into a stud reliever.
