I placed a DishMover order for 12/17 with E*, and my wife tells me that they lost the local channel mapping today or yesterday to the low numbers.

I called E* and they say that the locals mapping is based on the account address.

My question is why do they have to mess with the auths 2 weeks prior to the move?

I hope that my wife/kid don't lose the dallas locals entirely with the crappy weather here in Texas this week....

Can anyone explain why they can't leave the system auths alone until the move date?

Its a mistake on theyr end if they dropped your locals before the move, call back and demand to talk to someone in the executive office or your going to drop and head to directv.

They tell me the only way to get the mapping back is to cancel the appointment, which is also not acceptable. They didn't drop the locals (yet, as far as I can tell), just the mapping to the OTA channel number, which is what I have my PVR's set to use.

I tried to talk to a supervisor, and got the same story.

Grrrrrrr.

Ive heard of this before and on here, get to the executive office or to winback and try one more time, if it doesnt work then I have no other advice LER.

are you switching local DMA's? Are the correct locals in the 7000-9300 range?
yes, when we move on the 15th, we are switching DMA's.

Currently the Dallas DMA channels are in JUST the 8400 range, not on the OTA numbers.

Unfortunately my recordings are set using the OTA numbers (and I'm already here in Austin).

I just can't believe that they can't just leave the system auths/mappings alone until the move on 12/17.

Grr.

Van: how can I get to the Exec Offices/WinBack? (edit: I just sent a scathing note to ceo@echostar.com).

LER

exec offices says you lose the locals.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

apparently their current computer system doesn't know how to handle billing address/service address being different and in different DMA's.

I'm not real pleased. The gal in the exec offices did give me credit for the locals for the month, but....

Grrr.

We'll see.

Well I gave you all the avenues I have, sorry that they couldnt be of any better help, if Cartwright was still there I think it may have been a diferent outcome, she really went to bat for people.

Thanks, Van. Not your fault. They just don't get it that customers CARE and MATTER. The gal in exec said they get LOTS of complaints about this, and they keep sending in reports on it.

Why they can't get a simple change like this to work right is beyond me.

I'm just a local compter nerd, however :)

You might not be surprised, they recently changed the OS on the comps to win 2000. Unfortunately I dont see this problem being fixed just as the reschedule bug for changing a work order prior to arivel of the service tech wether a day or a month away.

great. Nothing surprises me. I just hope they get the stuff right on 12/17/2005. (D1000/DPP44/D500@61.5/Separators).

I think maybe the obvious has been missed.

Today is 12/7. Schedule called for 12/17. Somebody missed the "1" key. I doubt it's any more than that.

P.S. I NEVER use local mapping numbers for my recordings. Too many glitches that have nothing to do with moving. ;)

The reason the locals disapear is because when creating a dishmover work order the computer system requires the physical address be changed. That changes your current zip code, and guess what the locals are based on. The zip code has to be changed to qualify you for your new locals to put the type of dish you need on the mover work order.. 500 1000 sup dish... Then with an open work order the system wont allow you to make any changes...unless of course you changed the address back to your current address. Therefore to get them back on, the work order would need to be cancelled to change the zip. So the zip is in the system for your new locals but the old locals are still there in the high range. But the mapdown comes from the zip so that just screws the movers nothing can really be done. Thats a definite issue with the programing.. no idea why they dont fix it.. the way the system is setup it wouldnt be the easiest thing to do..but still

I thought LER said he still had his Dallas locals (what he has now) and not Austin (where he is moving to) so they couldnt have moved it yet

Theres more to it than the zipcode, I did an installation for a new customer in manchester michigan a year or so ago and he ended up having to get the lansing locals instead of the detroit locals based on the full address. His address was a washtenaw county, town of manchester address down to the zipcode but his property was on the jackson county line and into jackson county. I called dish up and asked about this and they said that he was only eligible for the lansing locals based on his address even though it had a zipcode for a detroit dma eligible market. Im not sure exactly how it works but it does seem to be based on more than just the zipcode, if dish had knowledge that %99.5 of the customers property was in a diferent county other than where the mailbox was located at but they knew.

Right. AFAIK (I'm in Austin, and the receivers are in Dallas) they have the Dallas locals on the 8400 numbers, and not the OTA mappings.

that's very odd they took the locals down for that cust..I just installed a Dish mover for a cust from Denver and they still had locals from that city on their equip..In fact I had to get them switched for him.....Now, I have done Dish movers where the cust had no programmming..That's 'cause the receiver had been dormant( not connected to a dish ) for a while...
