What is this snow thing you speak of?

This is the snow I speak of. ;)
Snowing right now and will be snowing until tomorrow. We're suppose to get 6-10 inches :)

I prefer the heat anyway. It seems to never fail that something requires repair or adjustment at one of the extremes. At least there's no bees in the winter.

Cold is bad for hands when working with bolts.... but I hate bees especially if on roof..

I vote for cold.

Same here... Good Start to winter... Time to start up the sleds

I've been having major problems

That was weird...wouldn't let me see my last post...now it does :)

I have not been able to navigate, post, read posts or anything, I've been trying everything, so I clicked this link from my email and thought I'd try from this angle. It seems as if there is some sort of pop-up ad overthrowing the website causing the whole damn thing to freeze up, I have to close the window and try again and everytime it freezes.

If this post works, it's a miracle, this is a test and also to notify somebody such as you that there is a problem with the ads as I described, this prob is effecting both of my computers which I have checked extensively. I can breeze through any other website except this one. :( Can you please pass this on because I have not been able to.

Thanks Iceberg

OK call me crazy but I had to go out and tweak a dish and swap out a LNB..

temp outside at 8:00 CST......2.6 above
windchill at said time......about -12

I am a satelliteguy :)

I spoke to my mom and she's like "why are you outside when its cold out".....and I responded with "well I'd rather do it when its 3 out then Saturday when the high is around -4" ;)

middle of the night on a warm summer night with the sat receiver in a folding lawn chair with an orange extension cord running to the dish area of the yard. Now that's satellite guy dedication-LOL

I prefer a range not included in the poll (50F-75F) ;)
Hear Hear!!! Now give that man a Cigar...!
And truckracer has the right idea, especially in the Winter when there are not so many Mosquito's...
And Larry, I prefer to work on mine Only when I have to. But, that doesn't stop me from tinkering because I never seem to get completely Satisfied.... I usually quit when I start doing more harm than good? Which happens far too often...!

I couldn't have said it better Al. :)

Is anyone in this hobby ever really satisfied?

I prefer above 60 degrees. Generally, when I'm outside, I take a receiver with me. These stb's don't like cold weather. They do funny things and don't drive a motor at all ! So give me a decent temperature day, anytime.
I had to pull down my roof mounted dish last February when it motor conked out, and it was lots of fun up there. I salted a path to the dish and let it open up before I went up and pulled down the dish. No more roofs for me! :)

But I noticed I work quicker in the cold.

yep. Did that last night. Swapped out a LNB & scaler rings in under 2 minutes start to finish :)

worst thing to have happen when its -10 out....dropping your wrench in snow
2nd worst thing....picking it up and having it stick to your hand :eek:

Ice, all due respect my friend, when it gets that cold its time to go SOUTH. :D

dropping your wrench in snow

At least the snow leaves a nice clear mark where it went in, grass just does its best to hide your stuff. Same for nuts, bolts and washers. Much easier to find small items under snow than it is to find them in turf!

Lesson learned - two new tools required in toolbox:
1. barbecue tongs to retrieve wrenches and other large stuff
2. magnet to fish out smaller items.
