Dual tuner DVR for one TV?

Long time lurker, first time poster.
I currently have a 508 DVR, with I believe a legacy Dish 500 2 dish set up (Dish 1 gets 119 and 110 with SW21 switches and dish 2 gets 148.)

What I a looking for is a standard definition dual channel DVR receiver for use on one TV, so I could record 1 channel and watch another or record 2 channels at the same time
I was thinking the 625 would work, but was told by customer service rep that the tuners had to go to two separate TV's. My question was since my TV has 2 tuners plus multiple RCA inputs, as does my home theater receiver why couldn't I send the ouputs from the two tuners to the different inputs on my TV and then switch on the TV (or receiver) between the two? Am I missing something here?

Also my wife is not wild about the idea of a second cable going around the house for the 2nd tuner. I thought I read that if I had a new Dish set up one cable could be used and then split to go both tuners of the 625. If this is the case would E* likely be willing to upgrade my dishes for this to work? If there would be an additional charge any idea how much that would be.

Lastly if I'm totally all wet with my idea above, is there another solution that would do what I want?
I would appreciate any advice you can give.

Al

You can put the 625 in single mode and use it on one tv like you want to. You will need a Dish Pro Plus lnb and a separator to use a single cable for a dual tuner. If you want to keep the 148 dish you will need an additional Dish Pro Dual/Single lnb. Get rid of the sw21 and plug the 148 dish into the Dish Pro Plus lnb then attach the seperator inside behind the receiver and run two short coax leads into the tuners.

I am not sure about the dish upgrade programs, there may be a dish upgrade for sd dvr's for existing customers that includes upgrading the dish

I'm a dish network installer,

If you do indeed uprgrade to a 625, you wont have to worry about anything of the install as part of the upgrade fee that creates a roll and a technician will arive to install the 625 to either 1 or 2 tv's. You just let the technician know what you want to do, or he'll ask you anyway. Its not required to be installed on two televisions, if you want one.. then one it is! Also he will install any new equipment to run your new 625 rcvr and its all part of the origional rcvr upgrade fee.

I wanted to report back that I received my 625 upgrade yesterday, and it worked exactly as the two replies said. The single mode does exactly what I want, the when the installer came we replaced my legacy LNBR's with Dish PRO ones at no extra cost.
My big gripe is with the 2 customer service reps I initially talked to. They insisted I had to send the signals to two TV's and there was no way I could convince them otherwise. Anyway I appreciate your advice here and I am now very happy.

LOL Dish support can really make me shake my head sometimes. I had a UHF remote bite it and 2 different techs both said "Oh well if your running in single mode you don't NEED a 2nd remote" when they couldn't get mine to work
