I didn't want to hijack Scott's minibud thread so I started this one. Scott's thread got me into the mood of toying around with my redneck mounted 10 footer. I'd have to say I've been really impressed with this antenna. I think it only has a 50K LNB on it, but it works great! I've picked up everything I've wanted to without even having to sink a pole in the ground yet.

I took drhydro's suggestion of finding Spike TV on G10R. I brought the TV and the analog receiver outside after the little bit of rain we had this evening. It made for a decent evening for FTA'ing! I started scanning the skies and quickly found a signal. I locked the wagon into place and started digging. Darn! I was on G14 and had my polarities backwards. So I switched things around and quickly found Spike TV. Locked the wagon in place for optimal signal, changed to even TP's, and set the skew for optimal signal. Un hooked the temp cable from the CBand dish and hooked it into the one of my diseqc ports on my 90cm/18in pole. I started the scan and found exactly what I was looking for. 4180 at 79% quality on the Fortec. The Outdoor Channel 2 HD is awesome! Excellent picture quality and AC-3 sound to boot!

The dish is at a pretty high angle right now, the wind might knock it over but oh well I had fun finding it. I'm thrilled to know I have LOS to it too. One of these days when it's cooler(October maybe?) and I have some funds, I'll sink this thing and put the motor on it.

Don't worry....you can laugh. I know I'm still laughing everytime I walk by the backdoor and see this thing.

Sorry.... I had to resize the 1920X1080 pictures because they were simply too large.

Cool dish set up. Maybe the name should be changed from "Radio Flyer" to "Sat Flyer".

How can you get 1080i (high-def) off a Fortec receiver? I think they're limited to only SDTV.

The Fortec is used for blind scanning and 4:2:0 SD feeds. I have a Twinhan card slaved to it for displaying 4:2:2 and/or HD feeds on the big screen.

The big rain storm we had today knocked over my dish. But that's okay...I figured it would as it was balanced like you wouldn't believe. Time to go outside and cut two boards to brace it up temporarily. FTA'ing is fun and addicitive! ;) DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME ;)

Digiblur, I see you've been getting those nasty thunderstorms in Baton Rouge as well. Good thing about C-band is the rain won't interfere as much with the signal.

I am sure that the recent problems with KUIL-TV in Beaumont are due to the storms coming off of that low pressure system on the south Texas coast.

What type/speed of PC processor are you using to watch the 4:2:2/HD?

Thanks.

Running about 25% CPU usage on TOC HD's 18 megabit stream.

I got the dish mounted back up and should stay unless I have some extreme winds. I only got about 60% quality instead of 75% but with digital there really isn't a difference unless you can get rainfade to kill this signal ;) Time to do some recording!

I also had a shocker.... I accidentally ended up on AMC10 at 135W with excellent signal! I never in my FTA life thought I had LOS to 135!

I have been busy lately but I am going to get my microbud back into operation this weekend. I am really interested in TOD and the Sportsman Channel.

granted TSC isn't in HD but I like it better then TOC. TSC is up on IA13 which there is a few more FTA feeds there as well.
