Help a lady out with a 110 problem?

There is a big Dish 500 logo on the face of the dish and the system info is: DP508 Software: P304
Device: DP34-500, Twin 1 (1) X (2) X (3)
I changed the 119 and 110 cables on the LNB to make sure that they were good.
I am now getting a strong signal on 110 that says 'wrong sat. EchoStar - 119W'
The switch is a DP34 107107.
thanks guys!

Then I'll say the problem is:

Dish needs to be aligned.
Bad LNB.
Bad DP34.

Can you run a line directly from the LNB to the receiver and run check switch? You can use a barrel connector to connect both cables. If the problem continues then you have a bad LNB or misaligned dish.

it's all depends. dish signals come in relay interesting if you standing behind dish. 119 satellite signals come in from right hand angle and lower then 110. 110 signal comes straight in to dish at higher angle. did you try to swat incoming lines on switch where the satellite comes in to switch?

yes, when i swapped lines, all the info was the same except that 119 was in column #2 when i did a check switch, instead of column #1.

OK, now i can say it is your DP Twin LNB since your 119 signal is over 120 strength, and when you switched lines at the 34sw the problem transfered. see if you have dish office or retailer around your aria and buy one from there.

Your dish is not pointed right. The LNB that is supposed to be getting 110 is getting 119. The one that is supposed to be getting 119 is pointing at 12X. At least that's what I see. The installer just checked the 119 strength and didn't do it right.

Rotate the dish 9 degrees or so toward the east. You should get both. Once you have signal on both, then you can tweak the positioning to peak 110.

At least that's how I am reading the problem.

And since I've had that issue installing the dish myself (though I had the 110 good, 119 missing), I know how easy it is to mess that up. It COULD be bad equipment, it COULD be a bad cable, but most likely, it's a Dish Antenna misalligned 9 degrees.

"Sorry, I did run check switch and it said:
1. 119- All -Twin
2. X - X - NC
3. X - X - NC"

I disagree. The second port is not being detected at all, if it was misaligned then the 2nd port will show All-Twin.

Yeah, tell that to my receivers when this happened. All sorts of strange things happen when you have the 110 pointed at 119 and the 119 pointed off into dead space.

Can it hurt to have her rotate the dish 9 degrees and see what happens before she tries to get a replacement LNB? Of course not. And since I've had this exact situation happen, why not try it?

The signal is still a dead give away of missing the bird and your probably right to Randall I didn't even notice that. It should still say twin on the second port if the input port on the 34 switch shes using is actually working.

I'll see if I can dig a 301 and D500 out of my garage and duplicate the issue to make sure that port 2 will show a connection even when its not pointed at the bird.

I haven't read hardly any of this thread, but see "Twin" and "DP34".

If the cables from the LNB are "swapped" so that the 110 side is going into Port #1, then a "119 in column 1" indication shows a mis-aim.

This can be confusing to lots of folks trying to troubleshoot from here.

I say (and someone else probably already has), bypass the DP34, connect a receiver to the port under the 119 eye, and make sure it's pointing at 119.

Continue from there.
