My service address is near chicago, but my billing address, where Dish sends me my bill is else where. Recently my old receiver that is not mp4 compatable became unstable. I called dish's service rep and he told me they would get me an updated receiver since this one will soon become useless. I told him to send the receiver to me at my billing address ( which I have had them do when my other receiver broke down) The rep insisted that the receiver would have to be installed by a service rep. I insisted that I was capable of hooking it up myself, but the rep said that the receiver must be delivered by a tech. At that point I told him to forget it and also since this receiver would soon be useless to shut it off and save me the DVR monthly fee.
Does any one know if this is a new Dish policy requiring receivers to be installed by their techs ? If that is the case it will make getting a replacement for a defective receiver if you are a customer that has :moved" with a service address different then mailing address.
