I'm waiting, like so many others, to see what this will or more importantly, what it won't do. I have the Quali-tv QS1080IR, which is a European receiver. It won't blind scan, it won't hold a lot of TP's, that I manually input. I have to regularly clean it out (TP's), to keep it working. Luckily, I only have about a half dozen channels I won't delete, when I clean it out. So that don't take long. What it will do? It will do HD (important), it will do 4:2:2 (important). Bottom line, for what I use it for, there currently ain't nothing better, that's with-in my reach. I can't imagine being without it, even as quirky and kooky as it can be, it's better than not having it.
Since I'm sure these new HD receivers are being built, based on European models, maybe/probably even coming from Europe, I'm sure they will have the 4:2:2 incorporated into them. But at this time, there's no indication that they do. So, it's wait and see. I would consider an HD receiver without 4:2:2 capabillities, totally useless. But that's me. So here I am, wanting to improve on what I've already got, and still waiting, like everyone else!
For all the data info, bitrates, memory and such needed for HD, I also hope they put a larger hard drive (or whatever) on board to keep all the info needed to run these receivers smoothly. I think that's one of the problems with the Quali-tv, not enough memory, so it over loads.
