I have the 622 for 1 HD set. I have 2 other SD sets hooked up with it.

I can watch all 3 at once, but the pic quality drops off tremendously on the 2 SD sets if they are both on at the same time. When only one is on, it'd a pretty good pic.

I'd like to get another receiver for the SD sets for better quality, and maybe have 4 TVs up all together, all with good pQ.

What would be the best way to do this? I don't really need another DVR, but it's not a bad thing. If I'd buy another DVR outright, would that solve the problem? Would I incur any other costs with Dish by doing it that way? Or is there a more inexpensive way to do this?

thanks

Yes, you will be charged for additional receivers.

You may be a candidate for a distribution amp, replacing your splitter. I assume you must have a lengthy run of coax to the other TVs. But I'm puzzled that the PQ drops with both sets on. I haven't seen that.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

Something is wrong! How are your SD sets connected? I have 8 SD sets connected to a 622 with no picture problems on any of them. One is connected to the TV2 A/V output. The others are connected to the RF modulated output through a distribution amplifier. The picture quality is very good on all of them.

It sounds like I'm going to need an amp. The cable splitter in the basement goes 4 ways. But I never had a problem with any TV when I had cable.

Be careful to get a lower powered amp (10-15dB max). Too much signal creates the same symptoms as too little signal. The rule of thumb is to have enough dB's of boost to account for your longest run of cable. The closer sets may require a drop tap, which will cut down the number of dB's of signal, if the closer sets have an issue.

Makes no sense, 1 or 2 TV's on at the same time should not affect the picture at all, the signal being sent to the TV"s should not change just because the other set gets turned on.

I just went on a service call for the same thing this moring. The problem was(not saying this is your problem), but anyway the problem was well with this set uo way too much coax RG-59(which is ok for short runs) but not 400ft of coiled up coax for a 30 ft run and really the problem was bad connectors.

Incompetence at its finest.
