I got a Pansat 2500 receiver and a Dish Network dish off of Ebay for around $250. It paid for itself in the first month. There's a lot more receivers out there that work for it now though. I don't think there's any HD ones ready yet, at least I haven't heard of any.

You'll get every local channel in the US, 10 porn channels, all PPV's and movie channels, basically every station that is broadcast in North America and more from around the world.

It is not technically illegal, kind of in a legal gray area. A guy who worked for a satellite company showed me how to do it.

It is a pain in the ass sometimes, they know you're doing it and will flash your system every now and then (normally before a big PPV hits). There's about 10 channels call PirateTV which Dish Network show a loop of a guy telling you he knows what you're doing and they're working to stop this blah blah blah. It's pretty funny

I think if one of these people would call 333-DISH they would get a different answer about the legality of just taking the signal that is spilling out into their yard!

When I had cable there were all sorts of frequencies traveling on the cable that they put into my house, but, those were not free for the taking, same with Dish, Direct, Starchoice and any other signal that is conus! But, we all know that here too!
