I think everybody expects the shipment on Friday as the email from Apple stated in the order status. No stress here.

Me too. My wife needs to drive over to Peoria on Friday and asked if I wanted to come along (I am off this week). I was like, No way. I'm not leaving the house Friday.

Strange how iPads ordered 2 days earlier are still not shipped. BUT you ordered an LTE one, and I ordered WiFi, so that probably makes a difference in terms of distribution.

The Swidiot got it wrong again. He just saw some orders moved to Monday and ASSumed nobody would get it Friday. What would Apple stand to gain by artificially delaying promised deliveries?

Now, if we don't get them on Friday, I say we kill the messenger!


On Friday I'll have to keep an eye on the jokers in the office. No tolerance for their humor when it comes to my wife.

And I start putting money in a penny jar for next year, since its now pretty darn clear to me that I can't resist the new iPad.


My best guess for the next new iPad: tactile responses, it gets lighter again (after the .09 pound increase this time), and... nope, that's it, got nothing else.

I'm personally going to enjoy watching all the haters complain that the iPad is still under-powered, and nothing without quad-cores and 2GB of ram is functional for any work at all.... while the rest of us are going to just yawn and continue to do all sorts of great stuff with this. I can not wait to see that retina display. It blew me away on the iPhone (still does, I still keep thinking, are those icons painted on the screen?).

On a related topic (and because quite frankly the last thing this section of the forum needs is ANOTHER independent iPad thread) what's the procedure for transferring an account from one iPad to another? I want to give my wife my iPad 2 but want it to be wiped and starting from scratch. I have backed up stuff from it to my computer and iCloud. Can I just plug in my new iPad to the computer and have it sync to that, then give her the iPad 2 and hook it up to her computer to wipe it and set up a new account on it?

We have a dedicated iPad owners thread, but... your question is easy.

Back it up. Go into settings, general, reset -- and you can reset to factory settings from there. You can also do this through iTunes, iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software

Then once it is reset, you'll be back to the initial software initialization setup, and can create a NEW iPad in iTunes.

Note, you can use the same App store account on both iPads. Just create a new iCloud account for the "new" iPad, so it gets its own 5Gb of storage for online backups

When we got our iPhone 4Ss on release day in October I just walked into a Verizon Wireless store that morning and no line. They had plenty of them in stock. I bet the iPad will be the same way.
