Well I look at it this way, you lost the first 2 games but pulled off 11 wins... could have gone the other way to win first 2 and then lose next 3 or whatever.... call it fate or whatever its a good ending with a Conference trophy to show for a great team and a top 5 QB leading them.

Haha, yeah, grew up in Bama, have lived in several southern states and visited northern an western ones. I havent seen a huge difference between them all.
I will say, that southerners seem to be more friendly to strangers based on my experience.
Not saying everyone else isnt friendly.

Your post was probably in jest to an extent, but I was just curious. Not much difference between Mississippi and Florida, or Bama, or Georgia, or Tenn, or Louis.....well, lets be honest, LA is different than everywhere.

I held the door for a "lady" at a service station when I went in to pay for some gas and you would have thought I had slapped her.

Granted, there are rude southerners as well, and my limited experience in the north is probably not true of the majority. It has just been my personal experience.

Something like that happened to me up North once. I was walking down the street with an old girlfriend from there, and a lady in a stroller came the other way on the sidewalk. I nodded my head and said, "Hello Mam". You'd think I assaulted her with the dirty look she gave me. My ex told me that nobody just says that to a stranger walking down the street. I told her that down in Georgia, it would have been considered an insult not to greet her.

I think the difference is up north it's a curtosy to hold a door for a lady, down south it's expected.

Urban Meyer is stepping down as football coach at Florida, the school's athletic director announced Wednesday.

"I fully grasp the sacrifices my 24/7 profession has demanded of me, and I know it is time to put my focus on my family and life away from the field," Meyer said.

A news conference was scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Its sad to see him go. But I can certainly respect his stepping down. Something he wanted to do last year, but I am not sure what pressure brought him back. I certainly do not blame our poor performance this year on him (After all we lost the best OC in the country to a head coaching job and more then a handful of players to the NFL including a few first rounders).

I wish the Coach Meyer well in his next position in life, if he chooses to coach again, or simply take the money and spend the time with his family. After all at the end of the day, that is what is important. How good a father you were, not how many championships you won. (2 btw at Florida)

An interesting perspective:

UF athletic director Jeremy Foley should start his search with a call to Stoops to see if the former UF defensive coordinator is ready to leave Oklahoma. Foley, by showing interest in hiring Stoops in the past, has already been responsible for getting Stoops a couple of raises at Oklahoma. What’s the harm in getting him another raise and then moving on to the next candidate if Stoops is not interested?
