D* Killing E* now in HD

E* still has more HD hockey than D*. Yes that could change soon, but so far it's not the case, afaik.

Anyway, I am on CI with E* through April. I'm in no hurry and I really think we'll get a few of these new HD channels added.

And yes, it is funny how E* was kicking D*'s ass for the last two years in HD, but now we all gotta run and jump ship! I am not going to say I would never do it (got no loyalty to any large corporations outside of the one that signs my paycheck) but jumping now seems a rash decision when E* has been the better service and could reclaim that title in the near future.

Dish is the HD-Lite leader and now behind in HD content, I hope they are happy now. I for one am peeved. Directv seems to care about it's PQ now with MPEG 4. Dish continues to downrezz HD and it's MPEG-2 PQ is beyond laughable. I guess we all know why Dish is offering new and current customers 6 months free.

Yup I have one month left on my 622 commmitment and I may bail. While the 633 is a great device and I have been with E* since 2000 I can't stand E* slow response to HD from D*. Charlie over and over again said they would be HD leader, well leap frog or not, D* is pulling ahead!

Ugh. Charlie's probably already penciled in for a night or two in the Lincoln bedroom sometime in 2009. The White House should be clean and tidy after George and Laura leave, but Charlie better plan his stay as early as possible before Bill stains the place again.

What's Charlie thinking? Why potentially alienate a large portion of your customer base by announcing which candidate you support? A smart man would have stayed quiet.

Hmm, when does my E* commitment expire? Rupert may be getting my business and you may see my 622 on eBay soon.

Oh, and I wonder if Charlie told Hillary how many American jobs he's outsourced to India?

PM me about buying your 622. Thanks!

I will switch when D* will offer free HD DVR, just refuse to pay $200 now. Otherwise, I'll wait until this happen or E* will add something. In meantime these new channels will add some HD content.

I bet you can get a free HD-DVR. As a custimer from 1995-2000 then went to Dish I get a letter every 2-3 weeks from DirecTV asking me to come back at $0 including DVR and I believe it mentioned a HD-DVR.

Ehren, your comments here and on other forums are all negative. If you are as unhappy with E* as you project, why not switch programmers and improve your happiness?

It's been 3 weeks since D* started adding HD channels. If you are so unhappy than switch providers. It's a no-brainer.

I wouldn't count Dish out of the picture just yet. How many years did Dish have more HD than Directv and we really didn't hear much of anything from the people with Directv.

This is only the 3rd and 4th week, I think dish will respond to all of this very soon!

I don't believe Dish will match DirecTV for some time, doesn't Dish have bandwidth issues right now, also a non-coherent satellite strategy where some HD is duplicated on 2 birds. Voom was a niche that got them out front, but the real deal is adding main stream Nationals. Charlie is to pre-occupied with splitting the company up and grabbing that golden parachute!

Unless you work for E* or have insider information, your comments are speculative and are not based on fact. E* didn't grow to a multibillion dollar business because of an inability to perform. I'm sure they are looking at the whole picture with interest.

It really isn't Dish's fault that some major satellite launching companies have managed to screw the pooch within months of each other either.

Contrary to popular belief, these companies are in it to make money, and in order to make money the customers have to be somewhat content (or dare I say, happy?). If there are ways to add more HD in the meantime, they will, but I do suspect they will try to pick wisely.

If the name of the game is "We want
  • in HD" and then they add the entire list, then people'll just bitch about the PQ OR they'd bitch about the fact that most of the time the content is stretch-o-vision (like they do about A&E, TNT, TBS, etc).

As it goes, I'd sooner go back to cable than be a D* customer ever again. I don't do business with companies that sue their paying customers.

The forum is overrun lately with supposed E* subs that are filled with rumors and garbage information who are supposedly tearing their hearts out over a dozen fluff channels they never watch and if you did you would flip the channel after the first half hour because of all the commercials and stretch-o-vision.

90% of the current HD content on any service is reruns and stuff already out on DVD, with no commercial interruptions. As more new content is filmed for the popular series on these channels, there will be something worth looking at but untill then, Heroes, House, CSI:LV and Numb3rs during the week and college football and NFL is all I have time for or have room for on my external drives. I've got a few series I never watched before on DVD now and I look at those when I get a chance.

The chest thumping over how many channels are labelled HD and how wonderful 1920x1080 reruns are is a waste of time and just snivelling drivel that has me spending time over on other forums. Hopefully they stop posting stupidity long enough to get on the phone with D* and stop their whining so we can return to a little normal activity around here. One big solar flare and this place would be a psychiatric hospital!

Do you have a home theater or a projector? The tv I have time for looks fantastic on a 92 inch screen! :D

Cause I have a damn right too, you figure it out. Oh and I already have NHL Center ice, so if you wanna pay for my CI when I go to Directv let me know k sweetie?

I just want 1920x1080 and 4 channels per transponder for MPEG 4 channels at 10mbps per channel which currently Directv is offering, I haven't even been requesting more HD, I would on the other hand like to see my HD television showing FULL RESOLUTION HD.

Huh? Do you have proof of this 4 channels per transponder? Cuz last time I looked it was 5. Even if it was 4, there still would be no way to get 4 10Mbit video channels since the total mux bitrate of a directv transponder is 38Mbit.

Mayve we should take up a collection to help you transition over to D*. I would be willing to chip in $.50.:haha

I'd rather put 50 cents toward him finding another venue to go whine instead of switching carriers. It's the selfish bastard in me that rather have what I want instead of him getting what he thinks he wants.

Hookie, you need to realized no one on D can fit your shoes or Digis(well probably Bob since he switched)That is the reason everything that anyone post over there, people take for good without any backup data of what they said.
