MLB 2008 Season

Bill,

To be honest, it feels GREAT! However, I have long ago fallen for the Scioscia Way of Winning and take nothing for granted. I am hoping for a nice, leisurely stroll thru Birdland for the weekend because they have their work cut out for them next week back to their Den of Doom...Fenway and a little side piece over to Yankee.

But I will sit back and take in tonight's game and hope for a win.:hatsoff:

That might have been the case the last few years, but this year the Angels have the Sox number. The Angels are 5-1 against the Sox including 2-1 at Fenway.

The Chicago Cubs called up right-hander Jeff Samardzija from Triple-A Iowa on Friday after placing closer Kerry Wood on the disabled list with a blister on his right index finger.

Samardzija, a former Notre Dame football star, was a starter in the minor leagues, going 7-6 with a 4.29 ERA for Iowa and Double-A Tennessee.

He made his final six minor league starts for Iowa, going 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA. He struck out 40 in 37 1/3 innings.

"We're going to put him in the bullpen and probably use him in the middle to get his feet wet," Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. "The sooner we get him in, the better. He's throwing strikes and getting people out. We'll give him a nice opportunity and see what he can do."

FOX Sports on MSN - MLB - Cubs call up Samardzija

Wow, 1st day called up and Pinella called the kids number that day!

Not a bad start for the former Notre Dame Wide Receiver either. 2IP, 2H, 1ER, 2K. At least he showed signs of promise at the big league level. It has been reported that Samardzija was throwing in the upper 90's! And from watching the highlights on ESPN, his pitches had some nasty movement on them. No wonder he chose Baseball over Football. It appears he will have a shot at a good career....

Nady

The "X" Man is in the lineup in Fenway today playing LF. Class act...showed right up for his new team for their next game after aquiring him. I am NO Yankee fan, but I wish "X" all the best in pinstripes.:up

I haven't had too many problems with silverlight. As for Mosaic, the feeds are choppy and it crashes my video card. Some of the feeds yesterday, such as the Soxs/Yanks looked like crap despite the game being in widescreen.
