Detroit Tigers

At least the Tigers look to have started to play abit more consistant.
Funny how that happens when your bullpen gets healthy. :)

Like Jim Leyland said about 2-3 months ago: We ain't kidding anyone if we think we are going to go anywhere winning games 7-6, the pitching needs to be giving up 2-3 runs or less, or something like that.

and it never got there on a regular basis this year :(

Still showing the Yanks/Sox. Glad I can get it OTA from Lansing channel 10 or Saginaw channel 5.2

Fox2 will flip it over after the fox broadcast is done. Good to see the Yanks down by 9! Tigers up 4-0.

Fox2 hasn't done any HD since opening day.

On a good note, FSN added the first two games in Cleveland this week as an away HD broadcast. Very important series this coming week.

Great news, Tigers starting a rookie tonight, when it counts the most :yikes
btw,it's Bazardo in case you were wondering.

Jimbo

The rookie did his job. Sure seeing a lot of them this season aren't we? For the most part, they have done well. Rayburn, Timo, Jurrjens (we might see him in Cleveland for the 3rd time), Rabelo (he's done a servicable job filling in for Pudge), Santiago (what a glove!) and the countless pitchers that have shuffled back and forth from Toledo. They've all gained valuable experience (during crunch time, no less) that will help the Tigers in the coming years. We might not make it to the playoffs this year, but an injury filled season like this year, won't hurt the Tigers nearly as bad next year, with these guys ready to step in having this season under their belts. The future is bright in Detroit.

Now, if Cleveland would just find a slump this coming week....

Bazardo went 4.1 innings, which I think they expected.
Jurjiin's is going today :up

Santiago has a glove and no stick, he was in Toledo and on the OLD Tigers team in Trammell's first disaster of a year. (or was that the second year)

Raburn and Timo have been very BRIGHT spots for the Tigers, Timo was in Toledo for much of the year, Raburn has been up and down the last few years.

Mike Hessman has also done well when counted on. Third baseman with POWER , imagine that .

Next year

Paul,
Some chatter going on down here in T-Town.
Some of the local media were speculating what the Tigers might do next year.
Guillen to 1B is obvious, that means we need a SS that can hit as well as field.
Santiago could not do it several years back and again not this year either.

Thier thoughts was IF they don't make a push for a bonifide SS , they could move Brandon Inge to SS and move Mike Hessman to third, Hess is also a superb fielder with a power bat.

What do you guys thing ?

Also I was thinking, with a full year of Spring training and maybe winter ball as well, how about Maybin in left with more experience he should feel more confortable, then we'll seethe real Maybin. They may platoon him with Raburn in LF as well.

Tigers win, Cleavland loses. Tigers are 2 games behind in the wild card, 4.5 in the division. I am praying the Yankees lose tonight.

All of the sudden things seem within reach!

Yankees win 4 to 3. Tick, tick, tick, tick......................

Plenty of time left Sco, we have 3 with the Indians starting tommorow.
If and thats a BIG if, they were to sweep they would only be 1.5 back.

Do I expect them to sweep Cleveland ....NO... but anything is possible and NO the Tigers are NOT out of the race...yet.

IF the Indians sweep the Tigers, then YES they are out of it.

Jimbo

It's a shame your team has no desire to WIN thier OWN division .....

Tick, Tick, Tick, Tick .........................

Jimbo

Where did you come up with that one. We want Boston bad. Heck we only won 9 out of the last 12 games we played them. Just like you we can only win OUR game when we play it. And as the Yankees are the hottest team in basball since the end of May, we have done OUR SHARE of WINNING OUR GAMES. IIRC, the Tigers had a 9 or 10 game lead on the Yankees didn't they?

But the truth is - making the playoffs is #1 - winning the division is number 2.
Not making the palyoffs as the defending AL Champs, now that's ugly.

How many wild cards have won it all in the past 7 years.

Sorry that my ticking clock has you upset.

3 but 4 overall wild card teams have won the world series.

* 1997 Florida Marlins
* 2002 Anaheim Angels
* 2003 Florida Marlins
* 2004 Boston Red Sox

BTW in 2002 both teams were wild card teams(Giants).

Detroit fans, one thing you got going for you this series is that our top 2 pitchers just went against KC over the weekend. (C.C. and Fausto), so you don't get to see Fausto this series. The Tigers on the other hand shuffled their pitching staff in advance in anticipation of this series. The matchups this week are as follows. Should be a good one.......

Monday: Rogers vs. Byrd
Tuesday: Verlander vs. Westbrook
Wednesday: Robertson vs. Sabathia

Go Tribe. Magic number's at 9 games. Lead over Detroit is 4.5 games.

I am pumped for this series. It should be a good one with the way both teams are playing down the stretch!
